Godkiss
“let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth, for Your love is better than wine . . . draw me after You and let us run together! the King has brought me into His chambers.”
Song of Solomon 1:2-4
ever watched a cheesy romantic comedy? i think it’s safe to say that everyone has. even the butch guys who would never fess up have gone to one at some point in time to impress a girl or to win a bet or something like that. it’s all the same. you got the girl who’s really not that pretty, and then some guy sweeps in and inspires her to be pretty, so she gets a makeover and has a newfound confidence. then the two go get married and have babies (or at least plan to). sometimes there’s a plot twist, but rarely, if ever, does it not end happily ever after. i’ve probably seen more than my share of romantic comedies, because i’m a hopeless romantic. as a hopeless romantic, i first began to study this book looking for some sweet something i could say to my then girlfriend (now my wife) that would make her smile or laugh or anything just to know that i had made her happy. i’m still a hopeless romantic, but i now see these words in a new light. we’re living in the greatest love story of all time! our Groom has a love for His bride that is unmatched, and our desire should be that we would be willing to do anything for Him to just turn His eyes upon us and smile. we want to be swept away in His embrace! we want Him to love our worship and give us the kiss of His all-satisfying joy and delight! there is no greater thing.
You’ve stolen my heart with a single kiss divine / Your love is better than life / so take me away to where i can be with You / i’m longing more and more for You / fill my cup with all that You are / let your mercy fall like the stars / turn your eyes on me once more / steal my heart as you’ve done before / my thoughts toward You are precious / but greater are Yours towards me / such grace is found in every step You take towards me / it’s more than i deserve
