Oh Awesome Path
“though He existed in the form of God, He did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant and being made in the likeness of men. and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. therefore also God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:5-11
this is the gospel! Jesus, died, rose and ascended and God the Father exalted Him to the highest place so that we could all worship Him! it wasn’t so we could put a fish on our car and wear cheesy Christian shirts. it wasn’t to come to church every once in a while so we can check it off of our to-do list. it wasn’t so that we could work harder to get into heaven. it was so that we could glorify His grace! it was to make us vessels of mercy (Romans 9:23)! the vessel is an incredible invention. the vessel carries the blood, which carries the oxygen, which keeps us going. so essentially, a vessel is a distributor of life! Christ died to save us so that we would glorify Him and carry His love, mercy and grace to this world! if we could wrap our brains around that, it should alter the way we do life. our money is suddenly not our own. our cars, and our houses and our food and our time . . . NOT OURS! everything we do is to glorify Jesus for what He did! ask God to show you, not how you can repay His grace . . . that could never be done . . . but how you can live in response to the grace He’s shown you and in the hope that His grace gives.
