We
Will Sing
“But
He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our
iniquities; upon HIm was the chastisement that brought us peace, and
with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone
astray; we have turned - everyone - to his own way; and the Lord has
laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah
53:6
Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit are all hanging up in Heaven in
perfect community with one another as one God in three
persons. They didn't need anything else. They
didn't have some urgent void that they had to fill by creating the
world and people and other things to praise them. God stood
there lacking nothing, perfect in His holiness.
And then, before he created anything at all, He thought, "I'm going to
make people. They will be in my image and it will be
awesome. They're going to fall into sin and then I'm going to
send my son Jesus to be murdered for them to bring them back into
community with me." Sounds like a good idea.
I don't at all claim to in any way understand the ways of
God. To me, that sounds like a bad idea.
Crazy. But then, I'm not God and who am I to tell God what to
do or what sounds like a good idea?
But what's amazing is that when he was thinking of us and forming us in
His mind and imagination, before He ever said, "Let there be...",
knowing that He would kill His Son, Jesus for our salvation, He went
through with it. It was as though the plan for his glory to
be known to all men was the cross from the beginning and we are the
beneficiaries of this tremendously meticulous and intricate plan.
I'm in awe. I hope as you look at the cross today, it won't
just be some boring thing you have heard your whole life that you're
numb to, but rather be something that you stand in awe of.
Something that changes your whole way of thinking and dreaming and
living and breathing. I hope it consumes you and becomes all
of who you are.
We,
we were the ones
who'd gone astray
Each of us have turned to our own way
But God, laid on Him all our sin
To bring us
in, to bring us in
We will sing, we will sing
To You our God, to Your our King Oh yeah
We will sing, we will sing
For Jesus gave everything
We, we were the ones who'd gone astray
Each of us have turned to our own way
But God, what sweet words, OH BUT GOD!
Gave it all, paid it all to bring us in
And the cross became the center of Your glory
As You had in mind before You said “Let there be...”
You came to us to fight our fight
To make us Yours, to make us right
You came for love, You came as light
You came that we would know Your life
